The following photographs show Chris Dunnett, one of Esther Dunnetts brothers, a Thornley lad when he was called up for his National Service in 1952. He lived in Hartlepool Street just down from bow Street for a while after he married. Later in the 1960s he moved to Bowburn. He died following a heart and lung transplant aged 57 in September 1991, three days after his birthday.
