Before Nationalization at the coal mine there was no holiday pay. What was in place was a Holiday Credits coupon  which you obtained for a full years work at the pit. My father, Nathan S Cook gave me a copy of his Holiday Credit coupon for 1938 which is shown below. Notice the amount of 14 shilling and 11 pence..
