I received this photograph from Barry Fulcher who found it in The Northern Echo dated 29th December 2012. It shows Joe Bridges(sitting), Davey Bridges's Dad and also Timmy Neilson. Those were the days, when men would work a full shift at the pit and then go home and work in the garden growing vegetables to help feed their families and I know that Timmy had a big family. He used to live in Liddell Terrace close to where I lived and  his mother used to live at 15 Liddell.
