I received the following photograph from Hazel  Mountford and shows her mothers school report in 1932 at Wheatley Hill Senior Girls School. Mary was from Thornley and her father was William Miller. Hazel mentions that when her mother left school she went into service at Harrogate where she met her husband who was in the army at that time. Mary had a brother Jerry who was deaf and dumb as a result of a childhood disease. At one time Mary lived in Ruskin Crescent where Hazel was born while her father was away in the war. Hazel has sent me more photographs that I have placed on the Thornley web page including a potted history of her family and it's ties to Thornley.
