I obtained this photograph from Ian Armstrong. He received it from his father Jim Armstrong and mother Renee who left the village in 1953 to live in Stafford and then in 1969 they moved to Rugby where they currently live.
The photograph shows Wheatley Hill Home Guard in 1945 when it was 'stood down' at the end of the war. Jim is shown on the extreme right of the second row from the front.
Taken in the garden of the house of the manager of Wheatley Hill Colliery on the standing-down of the battalion.
