I received this photograph from Doug Orchard. Doug appears in one of the photographs of the scouts as a young lad.  He was born in Wheatley Hill and lived at 24 Luke Terrace. He was in the local scouts and AFS when the fire brigade was up close to school field. He worked at Thornley Colliery and left in 1963 to join the Metropolitan Police.

Doug is now the Mayor of the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames and the pictures shows him in all his regalia.

A true Dick Whittington story.
