I received this photograph Ken Trotter showing his maternal side of the family. They moved to Wheatley Hill circa 1890's from Heseldene though originating initially from Scotland.

The photograph shows  from left to right Will 1884-1956, Tom Meechin 1861-1918, Meg 1887-1956. Next row from left to right is Esther 1889-1953 holding Bess 1901-1978, Ester (Wife nee - Mcgibbon) 1864-1943 holding John 1898-1899, Mary 1891-1971. Front form left to right is Nell 1890-1941 and Nan 1892-1948.

The Meechin's first house in W'Hill was in Gullock St , Circa 1890's.
Mary (my mother) Esther, Meg and Will lived throughout their lives in the village.
Nell, Nan and their husbands emigrated to America circa 1918.

Nell and Husband returned to Durham in 1936.

Nan died in America in 1948 and her ashes were returned to rest in W'Hill. Her son Frank remained in USA and served as an army officer during the last war
