This photograph again from Margaret Symons via Allan Fulcher shows Jack Symons who was a well know character in the village. He would push his portable wheel grinder for miles each day to sharpen scissors and knives for the people in the village. He continued to do this well in to his 80's. The photograph shows Jack in the front with George Woodhead to the left and Jack Symons Jr to the right. The photograph was taken in the back of the yard of a pub on Miners Gala day back in the early 1950's.
