I received this photograph from Allan Fulcher and shows a wedding, not sure where it is or who is being married but the lady with the yellow X on her hat is Mrs Tunney who used to live above the library in the Front Street. Allan tells the tale that he had to run an errand for Mrs. Tunney all the way to Thornley and back again and when he came back she gave him a halfpenny for his troubles. Allan went home and told his mother whining all the way that it was not worth doing the errand for a halfpenny but his mother convinced him that Mrs. Tunney was poor and didn't have much money and the halfpenny was a lot of money for her. Of cause Mrs. Tunney asked Allan to do another errand and when he returned she was about to give him another halfpenny but he refused the money. This is the abbreviated version of Allan's tale which I have been asking him for many years to compile for the web page.
