I received this photographs from Jacqui Twigg and shows her mother Freda Blackemore (standing). She was born in 1913 at 4 Alexandra Terrace but Jacqui is not sure of the name of the other girl. Freda had a sister, Gladys four years her junior so the girl is unlikely to be her. Gladys married George Burnside.

Jacqui's mothers uncle was Norman Blakemore and was well known as a hairdresser in Wheatley Hill.My grandfather was John Blakemore killed in the mine his coroners report is in the book part2 of The Weardale Steel Coal and Coke Co. Jacqui's other family connection to Wheatley Hill is her grandmother Hird (John Blakemores wife) When Jacqui's Great Grandfather James Thomas Hird died, Jacqui's Great Grandmother Rachel married Francis Quinn. There is photograph of Jacqui's Grandmothers brother Sydney Hird on one of the web pages.

I always remember the times I went for a haircut at Norman Blackmores next to the post office in the Front Street.
