This is a photograph is from Billy Law via Barry Fulcher and Allan Fulcher. Have updated the information with input from Brian Maddison (Jack's brother). It shows some of the men from the Workmen's Club in the village on holiday in Brighton taking a ferry to France. They started at Brighton then Margate to pick up more passengers but did not dock in France. They stayed within the 3 mile limit then returned back to England. Left to right, Jack Grainey, George (Rocky) Henderson, Sam Greener (was union treasurer at Thornley Colliery), Jack Maddison, George (Chippy) Worthington, Jack Gardner, Bob Greener, Johnty Marshall.
