Colin sent me the following photographs showing his Grandparents from his mother side of the family. Their names were George and Elizabeth Jordan and they lived in Dyke Street before ending up in the Aged Miners Homes. George joined the 14th Company of the DLI  on the 1st of March 1915. Colin thinks he may have been at Ypres during the war . The story that Colin heard about his service was that he was buried up to his neck in a shell crater and had to be dug out. He was profoundly deaf....presumably from the shelling. The pocket money that Colin used to get from him was called his 'rations' and whenever Colin was in trouble he always headed to their house for solace. Colin has many happy memories of them as they were a lovely couple.

The second photograph shows George and Elizabeth, bottom right probably at Skipton in Yorkshire with relatives. The man in the rear with arms folded, Uncle Charlie was the grounds man for Skipton Castle.
